What’s new this season?
Every year brings new and exciting trends and this year is no exception. This season once again sees the use of textures and one of the most exciting is the use of contrasting – even conflicting – textures. Stripes mixed with paisley, rust-look plates mixed with crystal and damask cloths – all of these are right on-trend.
Jewel colours, as well as combinations of cream, crystal and rust, turquoise and rich chocolate, or deep plum with silver/dove grey, as well as leaf and olive green mixed with fresh white – all of these are proving very popular this year. Of course, black and white will also be a chic combination, particularly when enhanced with textured fabrics and a hint of a jewel colour will always finish it off.
Don’t forget about lighting – add an edge with clusters of candles or centrepieces filled with fairy lights to offset the rest of your elegant décor. If you want to incorporate flowers into your centrepiece, current trends include incorporating different heights when it comes to centre pieces, as well as the right on-trend usage of off-centre centrepieces. For clients with a flair for fun, customized ‘cutout’ underplates can add extra zing to an event.
There are also several innovative trends when it comes to chairs and chair covers. New ideas include lycra bands in a wide range of colours, either on their own or cinched in with a jeweled buckle or flower. Another very on-trend idea is a spectacular half cover in textured fabric that complements the table décor and reaches to the floor at the back but does not cover the cushioned seat. Angelic Wonders is also proud of its new chairs, which include the upmarket Tiffany chairs, as well as the more informal Wimbledon chairs. Both add flair to any event setting.
Lounge areas, complete with couches, ottomans and coffee tables are almost de rigeur as a ‘chill’ area – venue permitting. Here guests can relax and chat once the formalities are over – rather than remaining in the more formal dinner seating area.
